WOW!
That's all I can say after seeing Mary's newly finished basement. I actually think it should be called a banquet and entertainment venue with all it has to offer. I haven't been in a space that striking and well done in a long time. The curved walls of the media/TV room are what makes it so classy and distinctive. It keeps the traditional feel of the whole space but at the same time kicks it up several notches in hipness. WOW! Nice job on pulling it all together--and thanks for hosting the party this weekend. It was top notch fun--except for the decorations being stolen from my office and offered up as gifts . . . that was weird.
My basement project won't be like Mary and Jim's. It can't be . . . but seeing their space did help me to re-solidify some of the ideas about having a bar space. It also made me think about keeping the space a little more open than the current plan with the sectional couch. We'll see . . .
A meager poem:
Months go by.
An hour here. An hour and a half there.
Things get done but it is hard to keep track.
It is always fun to do the work.
The weekend was a fun one with lots of fun and probably four hours in the basement between Saturday and Sunday. Saturday saw the completion of baseboards in the theater side of the basement. You might see the metallic gold at the top and bottom of the walls in the pictures below. Also notice the sconces which are new in the last couple months. On Sunday I painted a door and some door jambs.
Meanwhile the non theater side of the basement is in the same shape as it has been for a while. We'll start working on painting baseboards soon. You can see the game room area below with the painted walls and the air hockey table covered up, waiting for action again someday.
