Paint: Ceiling, Walls

We've been working in the basement--but it hasn't been completely smooth. It all started just as Bob was getting done with the drywall and painting the ceiling (which went smoothly). The problems started when Ryan and I picked out blue paint for the theater walls--and it turned out to be purple, not blue. After wasting $50+ on this paint mishap, we knew we needed help.

At that point, we turned to the master of colors in the family--Kristen and Stephanie--for general color dialogue and recommendations. Lots of (very much appreciated) ideas were thrown around but the information that led us to our decision came from Nicole, Steph's co-worker. Nicole mentioned to Steph that we should look at a model on Six Mile Rd. that had a theater in its basement with blue, red, and metallic gold trim. We high-tailed it up to the model, checked out the theater, liked it, and decided to go with something similar but replacing the red with a yellow. Here is how things looked as we began the painting:
The yellow and blue theater colors on the wall as we tested the colors out:
How the theater looks on August 22. You can clearly see the color scheme but we don't yet have the metallic gold trim up. The flash of the camera makes the yellow and blue brighter than they are in reality, especially when the lights are down low.

That's it for now. I'm looking forward to my next post with metallic gold trim around all of the blue boxes above as well as a metallic gold chair rail. The last photo below shows me feeling pretty happy with our Men's Land progress along with my F-16 in the background. :-)
