1. This tells us that "It's no secret that geeks name their computers. Any real computer user I know has NEVER stuck with the default name." So you know, I'm all for naming your computer. It is a fun thing to do.
2. This suggests to not name your machine "up" as in "Is up down?" The article also says to not name your machine "Kelly" or anything similar to a domain (i.e. my.machine).
3. Finally, this talks about the themes people use to name their machines, sort of you like with colors. However, colors aren't mentioned in the article. Have you considered naming your machine after a heretic, pasta or bodily fluids? If so, the article will be especially helpful.
Will you be sharing the name possibilities with the group before a final decision is made? I would like that. :-)

Kevin is a pretty good name. My mom told me so.On Dec 12, 2008, at 11:24 PM, Kelly Norman wrote:Hi everyone,I bought myself a computer as a Christmas present this year. It was cheap, cheap, cheap but it's better than my old one. it is silver. And I need a name for it.
With cars and computers, I have always gone with names based on color (Scarlett the red car, Griselda the grey computer, etc.)The only things I can think of for a silver Dell Inspiron is Pearl or Sterling. But I like Sterling and not Pearl, and I think this cpu is a girl. So should I give up using a color based name and go for something like Sophia (wisdome) or Hunter? I could call it Dell, I suppose, or Della, but that seems to lack any witticism. Or maybe Sterling is an OK name for a girl cpu, sort of like Hunter or Taylor?I can only trust my family members to send this too because I've been told people think we are wierd for naming inanimate things (like Hilary the tent), but I see it as a legacy of my dad's. Besides, Real Networks is going to prompt me for a name anyway. No comment in answer to the question about whether I have entirely too much time on my hands. In the meantime, having likely missed the deadline for Christmas cards, I am getting a electronic newsletter together to keep you all updated on my life. It should be short, as my life is pretty boring! I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday and that I will see as many of you as possible in the next few weeks!Love,Kelly
